In the early 1980s , in a small town nearby a river in mountainous area of Sichuan Province, Xiao Yun is accidentally pregnant at the age of sixteen and is still in school. She and the boy are expelled by school as a consequence. The boy leaves the town, leaving pretty and sensitive Xiao Yun alone to undertake the pressure and discrimination from society and family. Xiao Yun has a tough mother teaching elementary school. Under the arrangement of her mother and her boyfriend’s sister, Xiao Yun is told that her child is dead right after giving birth.
Ten years later, Xiaoyun becomes a top Sichuan opera actress in the province. However, like ten years ago, she is still the discrimination target. One day, Xiao Yun occasionally meets a ten-year-old boy Xiao Yong, this naughty clever boy soon becomes the 26-year-old beautiful woman's good friend.
